A funny and heartwarming story of how I finally bought my first bike — a Bajaj NS125 — after a year in Tinsukia, Assam. From emotional parents to UPI limits, here’s how the journey unfolded!
After spending almost a year in Tinsukia, Assam for my job, I finally packed my bags to head home — Berhampur, my hometown. I had one clear mission this time:
👉 Renovate my house
👉 And buy my first bike!
Yes, I survived one full year without a bike — always asking others for theirs whenever I had some work. Sometimes people said yes, sometimes they made excuses like “bhai petrol khatam ho gaya” 😅 — and at that moment, my heart used to whisper —
“Kaas mere paas bhi ek bike hota!” 💔
So this time, I had made up my mind. Before leaving Assam, I told my parents, “Maa, Baba, this time I’m buying a bike.”
And guess what they said?
My mom: “Arre ghar ka renovation karna hai beta, budget tight hai, abhi mat lo!”
My dad: “Haan haan, abhi zarurat nahi hai, baad mein le lena.”
But you know when that biker itch bites, there’s no turning back. So, I convinced them somehow and proudly said —
“I’ll buy with my own savings, no money from home!” 💪
Childhood Crush — The TVS Apache RTR 160 ❤️
When I was small, there was only one bike that ruled my dreams — the TVS Apache RTR 160. The sound, the look, the attitude — uff, it was love at first rev!
But now, times changed, and my heart started leaning towards the Yamaha R15 — the desi dream bike for every youngster 😎.
Unfortunately, my wallet didn’t support my dream. 💸
So, I decided to return to my first love — the Apache. But then came the twist...
Maa Ka Review – “Sport bike? Nahi chalega!” 🤦♂️
When I told my maa about Apache, she didn’t even wait a second —
"Sport bike? Arre usme pichhe ka seat upar hota hai, aage ka seat neeche! Tu brake marega to main to neeche gir jaungi!" 😭
I tried explaining, “Maa, it’s not that bad!”
She cut me off again — “Nahi, bas simple bike lo — Passion Pro, Splendor ya Honda SP125 le lo.”
Dad entered the chat: “Take Pulsar 150, sabse best hai.”
And there I was, standing confused between Maa’s comfort, Baba’s suggestion, and my sporty dreams.
The Savior — NS125 Enters the Chat 🏍️
One day, my colleague said, “Bhai, why don’t you check Bajaj NS125? Sports look bhi hai, mileage bhi thik hai, aur budget me bhi fit hai.”
That was it. Decision made.
But the best part — my parents didn’t know I changed my mind. They still thought I was going for Pulsar 150 😏
The 38-Hour Journey + Bike Adventure 🚆➡️🏍️
After a 38-hour train journey from Tinsukia to Berhampur, I rushed straight to my friend’s room, dumped my bags, and went to the showroom.
Paperwork done ✅
Excitement high ✅
The sales guy said, “Sir, EMI options available…”
Me, acting like a hero: “No EMI, full payment!” 😎
Then reality hit hard… 💀
UPI limit 1 lakh per day!
And my amount was more than that.
Facepalm moment.
I was like, “Bhai, ab kya karein?”
Somehow managed money from friends, made the payment, and finally — my first bike was mine! 🥳 On 3 February 2024.
Took my first pic of the bike— the proud moment of every biker’s life ❤️
The Grand Entry (or Grand Shock) 😅
I sent my bags home by bus and followed the bus on my brand-new NS125 like a movie hero chasing his destiny.
At Aska, I booked an auto for the luggage, and as the auto moved, I followed it on my shiny red beast.
When I reached home, maa was standing at the door.
I expected a smile… instead got a shock! 😳
"Yeh kya? Tu to Pulsar lene gaya tha na? Yeh kaunsi gandi teka gadi le aya!" 😂
And that, my friends, was my official welcome ceremony for my first bike.
The Aftermath 🛠️❤️
Now, that same “gandi teka gadi” is my daily partner. Whether rain or shine, it’s my freedom machine. Maa still complains about the seat height, but secretly I know she loves how fast I reach home when she calls. 😁
Moral of the story?
When you follow your heart (and UPI limit allows 😅), magic happens!
🏍️ Final Thoughts
Buying your first bike isn’t just a purchase — it’s an emotion. From convincing parents to arranging funds, every moment stays with you forever.
And yes — whenever I ride now, I still whisper —
“Finally, mera bhi bike hai!” ❤️
