The Day Everything Went Wrong (A Funny Site Engineer Story)
Some days teach you lessons, and some days… turn into full-blown comedy shows!
August 20, 2025 — that’s the date I’ll never forget. It was the day when fate decided to play Jenga with my patience.
No work related to my role, yet I ended up in the middle of an RMC truck tragedy.
Our company planned to do OHT bottom foundation concrete, and our engineer confidently ordered 7 RMC trucks.
What could possibly go wrong, right? Spoiler alert — everything!
The RMC Roadshow Begins
The first truck unloaded successfully — smooth as butter.
The second truck, however, decided to add drama. While taking a reverse, its clutch plate gave up and died on duty.
We called the JCB to rescue it, but since the truck was fully loaded with concrete, even the JCB gave up halfway and, in the process, destroyed the single-lane road.
And guess what? The rest of the RMCs were already queuing up behind like wedding guests waiting for food!
Chaos on Concrete Street
As we tried pulling the truck, another RMC on the way hit an electric pole wire, pulling down a house’s connection.
Perfect! Now, not only was the road blocked, but someone’s home also went dark.
We unloaded the stuck vehicle’s concrete right on the road, carried it with the JCB bucket, and spread it over the service lane.
Half the concrete hardened, half was wasted — and 100% of my patience was gone.
When the House Owner Arrived…
Just when we thought it couldn’t get worse, the house owner arrived shouting like a Bollywood villain.
He claimed that due to the short circuit, his TV, two fans, and fridge were all damaged and demanded compensation.
He stopped the work and sat on a mini strike for an hour.
By the time the issue was “settled,” our concrete had already started turning into stone.
🧱 The Great Wall Collapse
We began unloading the third RMC, but the side barricade wall decided it had enough too — it cracked, and the entire load leaked and spilled everywhere.
At that point, I just stood there thinking, “Why did I even come to work today?”
The remaining six trucks? Too late.
Their concrete hardened inside the mixer — like frozen yogurt nobody asked for.
And Then Came the Bike Accident
After surviving that concrete apocalypse, I was heading home with Rehman at around 11:45 PM.
We had told Mohit to drop our project manager at the bus stand, but he couldn’t find him and came back shouting on the road.
As we turned our heads to listen to him, our bike slipped on the uneven road surface — thanks to those heavy trucks that deformed the road.
We both fell hard.
Rehman injured his right hand and knee, and I got the “special award” — the bike handle hit my chin, tearing it open.
Result? 4 stitches and my first-ever bike accident scar! 🩹
The Aftermath – Pain, Laughs & Lessons
While I sat at the clinic with my chin bandaged, I couldn’t help but laugh.
From stuck RMCs and angry owners to wasted concrete and a bike fall, it was a perfect day of unplanned comedy.
If there’s one thing I learned that day, it’s this —
> Never say “today will be an easy day,” because the universe might just prove you wrong!
Moral of the Story:
Expect the unexpected at site work.
Always wear a helmet and gloves — safety first!
Concrete waits for no one.
And most importantly… even the worst days become great stories later.
Final Thought for My Readers:
Even though that day tested me to the limit, it reminded me that life’s funniest moments often come disguised as disasters.
So the next time everything goes wrong — just smile, because someday, you’ll laugh at it too. 😄
