💉 My First Blood Donation Experience – From “Weak Boy” to “Village Hero”

Date to remember: 23rd December 2015 — the day I became a “blood donor” for the very first time in my life… and also the day I learned that science books never said “blood donation makes you fat”! 😅

🏠 The Great Return from Hostel

After two long years of hostel life (and two years of surviving on mess food that could make even Superman weak), I finally came home. My +2 Science final exam had just ended, and I was in full “relaxation mode” — eat, sleep, and repeat.

Just when I was planning to enjoy my freedom, I heard that a blood donation camp was being organized in our village by Biju Janata Dal.

Now, here’s where things get interesting...

💭 The Funny Belief That Started It All

At that time, I was super thin. I mean, the kind of thin where even mosquitoes ignore you because they know there’s no return on investment! 🦟

Then one fine day, I heard a “scientific” rumor in the village:

> “If you donate blood, you will gain weight!”

And the proof?
All the men who donated blood in our village were fat and strong!

Being a Science student, I thought — “Well, science never lies!”
So, I decided to test this theory myself. 💪

🚶‍♂️ Marching to the Camp

With full excitement and half body strength, I went to the camp. Everyone there looked confident and heroic — I looked like I accidentally entered the wrong place.

When my turn came, a kind lady doctor looked at me from top to bottom and asked,

> “Why are you here, beta?”

I smiled proudly and said,

> “To donate blood!”

The doctor looked shocked, then smiled and said,

> “You need blood, not to donate!” 😆

⚖️ The Weight Test

But I was determined. So, I requested her,

> “Please check my weight first, I think I am eligible.”

When she measured, the scale showed just enough kilograms to qualify.
I still remember her expression — a mix of surprise and laughter.

Finally, she said,

> “Okay, let’s do it. But don’t faint!”

Challenge accepted! 💉

🩸 The Grand Donation

When the needle went in, I was nervous — like waiting for exam results.
The doctor said,

> “Relax, it’s just 5 minutes.”

And honestly, those 5 minutes felt like 5 hours of suspense.

But guess what? I did it!
I successfully donated blood for the first time — without fainting, screaming, or running away.

🦸‍♂️ The Aftermath

After donating, they gave me a glass of juice and a biscuit packet.
At that moment, I felt like a national hero — “One small drop for man, one giant contribution for mankind.”

People around clapped, and I stood proudly, pretending like I saved the world.

But deep down, I was thinking…

> “So… when will I start gaining weight?” 😅

Spoiler alert: I didn’t gain a single gram!

🩷 The Real Lesson

That day taught me two things:

1. Blood donation doesn’t make you fat. (Sorry, village scientists!)

2. It makes you feel proud. Because one small effort can save someone’s life.

After that, I donated blood several times — not for weight gain, but for the happiness of helping others.

And every time I do, I still remember that first funny experience — the nervous boy who just wanted to become “fat” but ended up becoming a lifesaver instead.

😂 Moral of the Story

Don’t believe every village theory — especially the ones that involve biology and body fat!
But do believe this — donating blood is one of the most noble things you can do.

So, next time there’s a blood camp, go for it…
Not for the weight gain, but for the weight of pride you’ll carry in your heart. ❤️
